The 18th Annual Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention

Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and creator of, The Toxic Avenger, will be appearing live at the 18th Annual Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention alongside his cast and crew of mutants and Super-Tromettes, including The Toxic Avenger  himself, it was announced today by Troy Timpel, founder of the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention and of Villain Arts.  Tattoo lovers and Troma fans will have the opportunity to meet Lloyd Kaufman in person with the added bonus of free photo-ops, free signed copies of posters, film stills, and DVD or Blu-Ray copies of Troma movies. Mr. Kaufman is unique among celebrities you never head of because he does not charge for signatures or photo-ops! Other merchandise available at the Troma booth will be Troma T-shirts, stickers, toys and backpacks.

” HONKY HOLOCAUST” directed by Paul McAlarney (above) is set for release on Troma Now  in February.
Since its inception 42 years ago  Troma’s founders Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz have been championing movies of the future and independent, innovating and disruptive filmmaking. Among the upstanding and Oscar-worthy films selected by the Troma Tream for their 2016 line-up is, “Honky Holocaust”, a film that directore Paul McAlarney says is, “Totally informed and influenced by classic Troma movies like, “Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1″, “Terror Firmer”, “Tromeo and Juliet” and, “The Toxic Avenger”. With the exclusive release of, “Honky Holocaust”  to Troma Now VHX channel slated for February, Troma Entertainment has released an exclusive Q&A with the director published below along with a message from McAlarney available on Troma Movies YouTube Channel, it was announced today by Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and creator of, ” The Toxic Avenger”.  
Films from the Troma library have consistently demonstrated the shock, shlock and relish for goofs and the grotesque since their earliest raunchy-sex comedies like, ” Squeezeplay” and ” The First Turn-On”.   “The Toxic Avenger”, Troma’s 1984tour-de-force, was way before it’s time in broaching issues of bullying gone awry resulting in the creation of New Jersey’s only superhero, the beloved Toxie, a sensitive mutant on a vigilante rampage.   Not to be overlooked is Troma’s thematic interest  in exploring and satirizing socio-political injustice, beginning with overt investment in anti-fascism, as seen in, ” Surf Nazis Must Die” and later with comedic spoofs criticizing evil corporate conglomerates and issues of  eco-terrorism, as in their recent release, ” Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1″,  along with issues of bullying and the perils of teen-sex.
Recent Troma acquisition, “Honky Holocaust” , directed in 2014 by founder ofUngovernable Films, Paul McAlarney,  is a sincerely Tromatic horror-adventure that unapologetically confronts  racism from both a modern and historical perspective in an ultra-violent, unsettling twist on racial inequality.  In a world in which the genocidal horrors of Charles Manson have come to fruition, a young woman is thrust into a terrible reality where segregation, loathing and interracial brutality are the modern condition. In a personal message from McAlarney available on Troma Movies YouTube channel Paul discusses his artistic development and the impact of Troma Movies on his filmmaking. Also, in the Q&A published below, the director expouses on his intention with ” Honky Holocaust”, the social and political implications of the film and the historical references he is making in terms of storytelling and as a “grindsploitation” filmmaker. “Grindsploitation, the new and up until now, unexplored  avante-garde in contemporary cult movies, is enthusiastically ushered in by McAlarney and Troma Entertainment.

Troma Institute for Gifted Youth Inductee 18 Year Old Dylan Greenberg Premieres New Music Video Today

The Troma Institute for Gifted Youth has welcomed their second inductee, 18 year old Dylan Mars Greenberg, into their honorable institution alongside 19 year old Kansas Bowling (director of BC Butcher), it was announced today by Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and creator of “The Toxic Avenger”.  The induction marks the release of the already experienced director Greenberg’s newest release, music video for Matt Ellin’s, “Hey, Shut Up”.

Dylan Mars Greenberg got an early foothold into the art world; by the time she was 15 she was performing in East Village clubs and dive bars, releasing a full length synth pop album as “Disck” and ending up with a photo spread in NY Times Magazine. When she was 17, she directed her first feature film “Glamarus’, produced by veteran art film director and actor Scott Shaw. She followed this with her art-horror film Wakers and then almost immediately began production on another film called Dark Prism, which ended up generating massive press attention in Pitchfork, NME, Flavorwire, SPIN. and the AV Club. Greenberg’s style has been compared to Andy Warhol’s factory, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and David Lynch. She has worked with major figures in the entertainment industry such as Mac DeMarco, Matt Katz-Bohen, and Jacob Reynolds, underground art icons like Lloyd Kaufman, Reverend Jen, and Robert Prichard, and up and coming young people such as Sofe Cote, Blessing C.S., Sara Kaiser, Chandani Smith, and Max Husten. Critics have called the films of Greenberg everything from brilliant and nightmarish to awful and headache inducing. Regardless, Greenberg continues to be one of the most prolific young filmmakers in New York City.
Today’s release of another magnanimous project, a music video she directed for fellow prodigy, 16 year old singer/songwriter Matt Ellin called, “Hey, Shut Up”,  is available now on Troma Movies YouTube Channel. Matt Ellin is truly the real thing – at age 16 he is already an incredibly prolific musician with a growing following. His oddball and sometimes even unsettling charm are displayed for listeners in his first EP, “hey nice” containing 7 pieces of music, including his underground hit single: “Hey, Shut Up” and his song “it’s easy to be (a pylon like me)” which was featured in the studio feature film “Dark Prism”.
Dylan’s video for, “Hey, Shut Up”calls on a nightmarish hallucinatory experience that is in part influenced by a fondness for the Tromatic sense of the grotesque without losing her unique and eerie style. Bizarre images, deployed with carefully crafted editing, juxtapose the seemingly sweet but mysterious vibe within the song. The collaboration between Greenberg and Ellin can be seen on Troma Movies YouTube, and the “Troma Institute for Gifted Youth” continues to uphold the highest standards for young filmmakers with its second inductee.

Lloyd Kaufman and Troma Bid Farewell to Lemmy Kilmister: King of the Cameo and Monster of Metal

he loss of Motörhead  legend Lemmy Kilmister on December 28, 2015 had a significant impact at the Troma Films studio in Queens, NY. Lemmy had come to be known as a regular on Troma movie sets for twenty years. It would be an understatement to say that Lemmy truly understood Troma’s artistic intentions and his collaboration and support bolstered the cinema experience for creators and audiences alike. A longtime friend of Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and creator of, ” The Toxic Avenger”, Lemmy Kilmister has been a featured celebrity cameo in Troma productions as well as a generous musical contributor. Upon hearing the news of Lemmy’s passing, Kaufman said;
“Although Lemmy was one of the greatest rock-n-roll pioneers in history,  with an enormous following, Lemmy was always a supporter of the genuine  artist and the underdog. On a personal level he always made time to generously appear in Troma movies, no matter how deep in the underground. The Troma Team and I have very few sincere friends in the mainstream so to lose Lemmy makes us all especially sad. He was a super shit-disturber and was a great role model for all us shit-disturbers.”

Happy New Year from Tromaville! It just wouldn’t feel like the holiday season without attending at least one debauched party involving strippers, B-List Celebs and amateur jabs at stand up comedy. Troma, who upholds the highest standards of sophistication in the performing arts, believes the aforementioned triumvirate to be the foundation for entertainment greatness and left nothing to the imagination at this year’s holiday extravaganza. Premeried on Christmas Eve, 2015, this live episode comes as the first of several “Kabukiman’s Cocktail Specials”, episodic showcase meant to tide us over in preparation for, “Kabukiman’s Cocktail Corner: Season 2”, it was announced by Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and creator of “The Toxic Avenger”. 
“Kabukiman’s Cocktail Corner Non-Denominational Holiday Extravaganza“, was the second live event to be hosted by Sgt. Kabukiman, N.Y.P.D. since the show’s creation by director and producer John Brennan one year ago.  The party, which was held at Lucky 13 Saloon, in Brooklyn, NY was truly a night to remember. The event featured a performance by Philadelphia ultra-violent hardcore band, The Bad Luck 13 Riot Extravaganza and appearances from the strange and delightful Dolphin Man, Turkey Man, Lloyd Kaufman and stars from Return To Nuke Em High Vol. 1 and 2.
As expected, “Kabukiman’s Non-Denominational Holiday Extravaganza” unfolded in the chaotic maylay we have come to expect from our revered host, the Chosen One, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. Expertly edited from a drunken yard-sale into a stupendous and festive party, you can see the episode and all the highlights within on the Troma Movie YouTube Channel.
Other “Kabukiman’s Cocktail Specials” are set to be released later in succeeding weeks to come and include the first live event from Philadelphia, PA, with a cameo from “Angry Video Game Nerd”,  Kabukiman’s adventures in the NYC Comic-Con as well as episodes of flashbacks including special Troma Edge TV episodes by James Gunn, all streaming free on Troma Movies You Tube.

This year Troma Entertainment presents a Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, holiday, Seasonal-Special that will delight men, women and children of all ages.  “A Very Troma Christmas” will drop this evening at 8 pm on the Troma Movies YouTube channel, it was announced today by Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment, Inc. and creator of The Toxic Avenger. “A Very Troma Christmas” stars the Toxic Avenger playing Santa, and features the Tooth Fairy, Mother Teresa, Buddha, and Abraham Lincoln playing themselves.

The vivid and colorful cartoon, created by renowned animator Justin J. Bowen of JB Entertainingness melds exquisitely with Troma’s longstanding themes of social satire and artistic revolution through media disruption.
