Director Paul M. McAlarney’s Futuristic and controversial horror-prophecy of an American Race-War. Ungovernable Films, Boston, MA.
Through practical effects, informed low-budget filmmaking techniques and unapologetic social commentary Honky Holocaust both pays tribute to and without irony presents itself as exploitation cinema. Lust charged graphic nudity, fully resolved images of your worst nightmares and more than a bit of A Clockwork Orange ultra-violence. The story and the visual narrative of Honky Holocaust comes with an anarchist message through the history of hate and violence by imagining what could be when we refuse to uphold any dishonest mainstream portrayal of racism meant to defer discomfort. The Toxic Avenger was released in 1984 and considered the breakthrough film for Troma Entertainment and Yale alumni Director and Executive Producers Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz. Catapulting into stardom for its new genre ingenuity a raunchy Sci-Fi Comedy with a critical message on the fate of the planet versus the modern condition.
A Q & A with Lloyd Kaufman to follow the screening!
The Frida Cinema’s doors will open at 8 PM and a preliminary 80’s bash will set the mood for movie-goers with aerobics, a costume contest, prizes and libations! The movie is set to start at 9:00 PM sharp, and following the picture Lloyd Kaufman will host a Director’s Q & A and offer his legendary wisdom on movie making and independent art to California Tromaniacs.

Puerto Rico Horror Fest runs from October 20-26 at the Caribbean Cinemas in San Patricia. This year Puerto Rico Horror Fest will mark their milestone tenth-year anniversary with a toxic twist on scare genres and the curator’s selections, (by way of their fantastic environments, unnatural selections and interest in the impossible, surreal and mutantoid) all share a common genre thread as Science-Fiction Movies.

In a gesture of honorific proportions PRHFF will truly resolve their effort to celebrate Science-Fiction/Horror crossover films organizers have elected to pay tribute to the director who invented a language of non-conformity in cinematic storytelling, Lloyd Kaufman, president of 42 year old Independent Movie making institution Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger.
Kaufman will be visiting Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest from Oct. 20-23 and in that time will be the recipient of a lifetime achievement award for his unholy ingenuity as a pioneer for new forms in independent art and movie making, with a Resume of over 60 feature films he directed himself and as the filmmaker who gave rise to the likes of big budget Science-Fiction Director Hero, James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Eli Roth.

Two main-event time slots for screenings this weekend are reserved for the Troma Movies, with a midnight (11:55) screening on Friday for Lloyd Kaufman’s melodic-rock critique on the “what kind of god” image driven gore and gristle caused by the mass produced foods industry and American fast-food chains, Poultrygeist: The Musical. Poultrygeist, which was shot on 35 mm film and features, among many other mesmerizing chickens, the most disaffected an hypnotically synchronized lesbian orgies to ever take place outside of the Summer Olympics, meanwhile maintaining a message of real horror by pointing to the undeniable atrocities of animal torture for the sake of low-cost mass production through nightmarish livestock humanoid.

When Health-Club janitor and super-nerd Melvin, played in the film by Mark Torgl got into a fight with hot-dude bullies and fell from the window into a vat of fallout after-goo and emerged The Toxic Avenger, his celebrity was instantly confirmed and the character and movie were catapulted into the oft-considered untouchable Pantheon of Superheros with a dark-side, warm-heart and BIG MOP. The crowd pleaser film will no doubt be a celebration in Puerto Rico and El Vengador Tóxico himself will be there all weekend to bask in the sun and also glory, admire hot beach bodies and pose for photos with fans! Greetings from Tromaville! A Troma Entertainment archivist has unearthed the long lost Charles Dickens novella A HALLOWEEN CAROL. When 19th century focus groups found his initial story “too spooky”, Mr. Dickens was forced to rethink his story and shift holidays, resulting in A Christmas Carol, which went on to moderate success.
Thankfully, Troma has unearthed the lost manuscript and adapted it into a short film produced for Youtube Space: A HALLOWEEN CAROL: PUMPKIN SPICE EXTRA SPOOKY EDITION. Written and Directed by Lily-Hayes Kaufman, with cinematography from Charlotte Kaufman, the short features Lloyd Kaufman, Catherine Corcoran, Asta Paredes, and the one and only Toxic Avenger!!!
Because of this, the Toxic Avenger has been named as an honorary member of the TOXIC TUTU parade, held by the makers of the mockumentary chronicling the life and times of Mark Torgl (Melvin the Mopboy from the original Toxic Avenger). Starting at 4 pm on Halloween night, they will take to the streets of NYC to celebrate Troma and the holiday. Later Halloween night, Tromians in NYC can go to The People’s Improv Theater at 11 o’clock to see Welcome to Hell, hosted by Vincent Welles, Master of the Occult! Vincent is accompanied by his werewolf sidekick and band leader Warren Talbot as well as notable guests, including the Toxic Avenger himself! IFC CENTER WILL SCREEN A NEW HD TRANSFER OF “THE TOXIC AVENGER”
